well, been really busy with the whole worm thing. i would like to thank everyone that have sent me cool fish stories and pictures of fish they have caught on my products. i really enjoy it!  i just wish i had the time to get out and make my own fish stories. maybe next year.

THE SPECIAL
 i have 800  jigs that were tied by a commercial fly manufacture for me a samples, they were made on the same gamakatsu heavy wire hooks ,powder coated heads etc.etc.etc. they are a very good quality  jig but the problem is  that i didn't make them and i can't put my name on it and sell it as a kramer jig. i am so swamped with orders i was going to entertain having them made for me but i couldn't do it. if it isn't tied by me then i won't sell it as a kramer jig. anyway long story short i have 800 jigs  in 2 styles and 2 colors in 2 weights.

1/8oz tweekers  pink                1/4oz tweekers pink
1/8oz tweekers peach              1/4oz tweekers peach
1/8oz pimp shrimp pink             1/4oz pimp shrimp pink
1/8pz pimp shrimp peach           1/4oz pimp shrimp peach.

i am into them for $1.45 each, if you are interrested please email me and i will sell them for what i am into them for. i could just pawn them off as mine and sell them to customers but i couldn't sleep at night. so if you want an immitation kramer jig on a good hook let me know.

wow! that is all i can say. we put a new 8" bubblegum pink worm on the market yesterday and we are already almost out. i have sold a ton of worms but this one took off faster than any other style. i guess there is a market for big worms. i didn't believe it since i like small stuff but i was getting a ton of requests for an 8" worm so i decided to put it out.

as for fishing, the reports i have been getting are still slow,1 here or 2 there etc. i know the hump has been consistent but no big numbers. it also sounds like the hoh is NOT the place to be. i have heard the fishing is ok at best but the crowds are crazy for up there.

i also hear that some springers are being caught in the cowlits and in the kalama. o boy here they come. i don't fish for them personally, i hate the crowd thing but i get a fair amount every year as bi-catch on the peninsula.

i sure haven't been out catchin' anything{ 1 trip last month and 1, 12lb nate hen} but i have had buddies that have been hitting the skookumchuck and the reports are all over the board. the only consistant is that the fish are huge this year.  i have buddys that fish it 4 days a week and maybe get 1 fish and i have othere buddys that fish it 1 day a week and stroke'm. last week a friend of mine fished sunday and catch 7 steelies in 3 hours with his wife.{they were all alone with no other anglers} his wife caught her first steelie and it was 22lbs. that is a frickin' monster for the "skunk-m-chuck". i personally hate that river but i am fascinated with the crowd and the "herd mentality" of the some of the guys that fish it.  a ton of guys stand at the deadline and cast all day and hope a fish comes to them. nobody thinks outside the box.on any given day i bet nobody is throwing a piece of squid up there,well they should be, everyone is throwing a nightmare jig or a sandshrimp or eggs. my buddy covers water and makes a fish happen,not waits for a fish to happen.

i hope alot of you guys are doing well this year, all the rivers i like to fish either got nailed by the floods or are having poor returns. i have only been on the water 1 time since december 12th.  i have been really busy, good news is that the guys are really cleaning up on th"pimp plastics" this season. i hope to make it out in march "pig hunting" but we will see, this is my busy time of year.

well the rain will never quit. i haven't been out in a long while, i aplolgise for not posting on my blog much. i have been crazy busy lately. sportsmans warehouse  in federal way is now stocking my worms and jigs. pretty cool { thanks reinhold and keith}. the federal way sportsmans has some pretty knowledgeable guys at the fishing counter{ keith,reinhold and matt}

anyway the rivers i want to fish aren't cooperating, the chehalis and willipa are tits for atleast a year or so. i heard that  the salmon got a squirt of fish 2 days ago. that is the only good news i have heard. i have had a buddy whacking steelies in oregon on a pink worm and he is rigging it really cool, i will attach a link. http://steelheadnotebook.net/forum/index.php/topic,187.0.html

you guys have to try it rigged that way, pretty damn productive. on another note i should have some marabou tailed worms coming really soon{ i hope}

man what a month. , i would like to thank all my customers and friends from all over the world for sending the concerned emails when you heard we were flooding out here in washington. i was not affected but had some close friends that were, 2 lost there houses, but thank you for your concern. i was flooded with emails from guys who wanted to make sure things were ok. and 1 guy even volunteered to fly up to help sandbag. all of you are really cool. thanks.

on another note i met a guy today who tried to sell me some jigs. they looked just like mine but on a crappy hook. { he didn't know who i was} anyway he told me he came up with the jig pattern, but i told him i thought i had seen it before, then he said that  some guy online was copying him { he told me he had been making jigs for almost 2 years he said, i think i have him beat by a few years } i asked if it was kramer tackle and he said "yeah, that's the guy". then i introduced myself as steve kramer, he almost crapped his shorts. he is the 3rd guy copying my  jigs. i know there is nothing i can do about it but it is really frustrating and pretty sad you have to copy someone elses design and take credit for it.  pretty sad indeed.

ok that is my rant.

 thank again for all of your loyalty and pray for all the people hurt in the floods.

Wednesday 28th November, 2007

I love the way that, every once in a while, a Front Page topic just falls right into place. That's what happened this week.

Right now, in the most important thread on the board, we're talking about how to get young people into fishing/fly fishing. Last weekend I saw how to do it first hand while fishing with my friend Steve, and his son Gavin. We landed a few salmon that day, but best of all I got to watch a proud father fishing and sharing his passion for the outdoors with his son. Steve's excitement for fishing is contagious, and Gavin is already a fairly accomplished angler at the ripe old age of nine. You can see the excitement in his eyes. The best part was that every time we stopped at a new run or pool it seemed like Steve had another story about Gavin and a steelhead that happened in that very spot.

Fortunately for most of us, getting a kid into fishing isn't nearly as hard as catching a steelhead. If you have a son or daughter, plan a trip with them. Maybe a buddy who doesn't fish has a kid who wants to try. How old do they have to be? I had a flyrod in my hand when I was seven, and dunked my first nightcrawler before that. Just be patient and remember that fishing isn't just about catching. For kids everything is about fun. Fishing is no different. It's about bugs and tadpoles, eagles, playing in the mud, hot cocoa, and homemade sandwiches too.

Getting the younger generations into fishing and the outdoor pursuits is important stuff for a load of reasons. Here's a few that I can think of...

Reason 1: Now, more than ever, young people need active, inspiring, and constructive ways to spend their free time. Fishing is loads more fun than video games and text messaging between fast food cheeseburgers. And better exercise, too. Especially so when you include a nice hike or mountain bike ride on the way to Mystery Lake X. Maybe I'm off target here, but I think my life is great because of, and in addition to fishing. I'm glad that my folks got me interested in nature and the outdoors and took me traveling and fishing when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure there are other kids out there right now who would think the same thing if given a chance.

Reason 2: An unavoidable side effect of loving to fish is loving the fish and the rivers too. Many of tomorrow's anglers will also be tomorrow's conservationists, preservationists, and activists. We need people who care enough about the natural world to fight to keep some of it around to enjoy. In addition, anglers license dollars are often used toward habitat preservation and restoration. The more anglers there are, the more funds there will be, and the more we can do.

Reason 3: When we're old, we're going to need someone to row the driftboat for us and tie us more #20 Parachute Adams. I think my dad thought of this one about 25 years ago. I'm glad he did.

There are more reasons for sure, but I'm out of time for this week. Join the discussion on the board and share your reasons, ideas, and stories of getting young people involved in fishing.

Cheers,
Matt

sorry i haven't been posting much lately. i have had a really busy month. i introduced an new line of goodies including the sandy shrimp . man those things have been selling like hot cakes. i am almost out already. i fished 1 day with my buddy chris and herb, we smacked'em , hooked 14 landed 8 silvers. herb caught his first silver  and his biggest king ever,it was great. i had breakfast and hit cabelas with a buddy today and gave him a bunch of sample worms he wanted. he is thinking of having a line of plastics and we have been trying to match some colors for him  for quite a while. cabelas just opened and what a zoo. there steelhead and salmon dept sucks bad. so does the fish tank,they have 4" largemouth whoop de doo. i also put up some video games yesterday for your enjoyment, i will keep  adding new ones soon. i hope to make it out this week for some steelies, we will see. i am way swamped with orders so if i can get the time i will have a good informative post,hopefully. i am also going to offer a new line of jig heads and plastics jigs in a week or two so keep your eyes open. i will also have a freebie offer coming up and maybe a christmas special too.

happy holidays everyone and tight lines

what a month, i shot a whitetail,blacktail and a bunch of pheasant,not to mention hooking 5 and landing 3 {2 steelies and i silver, 1 steelie was 35"x18"} then went back the next day and caught 2  steelies in 5 casts. now we need rain, i have a buddy who wants to fly up but the damn weather won't cooperate. for all you guys who want some fish i would be on the satsop right now{ wink wink} even better if you really need a fish i would go to hoodsport and fish with 300 of your closest friends,ton of fish and a ton of dudes.

i wish i had more time to fish,these lures are keeping me really busy. we have a new octopus coming{ if someone can think of a good name i would appreciate it} and a bunch of straight tailed worms and some creatures. they are frickin' awesome, i can't waite.i will post some more info when i get out next.

i hope you all are catching some fishy's

busy busy busy, stupid busy but the worms are selling great and i am very happy. i have been getting amazing feedback from them. my son and i have landed over 80 kings in 2.5 weeks but haven't made it out after steelies.

i will share my egg recipe if you guys want it{ this is my king only recipe, i have almost 30 recipes but this one works the best for me on kings}

2 pints water  { no chlorine in the water}
2 cups sugar
2 cups sea salt
1 cup borax
handful of cocktail shrimp
bring to a boil and stir often { add whatever coloring you would like,jello,beau mac etc}
let it cool down and once it reaches room temp put in eggs in whole skeins{ if they are really big eggs butterfly them first} stir often for about 1 hour, place on drying rack and add sodium sulfite, just lightly sprinkle it on them. lwet sit till they obtain texture you want and borax them and freeze of use.

been hitting the lake in the evenings for kings. man we have been whackin'em lately. in 1 hour on thursday evening we hooked 9 and kept 4, biggest being over 20lbs. they love my eggs, the only secret is a really high sodium sulfite content and i have been outfishing everyone about 5-1. got to love them  dark kings  lol. i am just waiting for the rain so i can catch some steelies.

my hand pours are finally done and i should be getting them in a day or so. i have been getting a ton of interrest { and a few copy cats just like with my jigs} it seems nobody can get a good idea on there own they must rip off someone elses. anyway i know i whine alot like a little girl. lol

we did fish the n.w. bass championship last weekend, we were about 6lbs out of first and we even caught my partners boat on fire coming over snoqualmie pass. now we have are own pot hole from us melting the pavement. i will write the story later, it's a good one.
